Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonWild raspy wood intermingled with juicy fruits and berries. Faint tendrils of white smoke. And perhaps drier fruits also, raisin? Sootier with time. Mouth-coating leatheryness. Quite special, and unexpected, taste in here. Chewy, dark chocolate, tobacco. Not extreme and not directly woody but really wild on the spiciness. Nice. Tar? The aftertaste is a teeny bit on spent matches.
Rich Howarda bracing hit of wood smoke drifts over mixed berry preserves, toasted marshmallows, higher notes of fruit candies, and even i'm getting some rhubarb pie on the tail, which is a first, and a welcome one at that. the palate offers honey and the berry preserves on toast, toasted marshmallow, yesterday's cigar, and no shortage of charred wood, a piece of spent charcoal lingering on the tongue for the finish. water lightens the nose just a hair, with fresh raspberries and blackberries, but still some raspberry jam, vanilla, and plenty of lingering wood smoke. the palate is still intense, and intensely sweet, mostly on smoldering tobacco and charred wood, but also plenty of tangy berries and jam. summary: very intense... you must love smoke, and you must love sherry. in other words, an excellent whisky.
