Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonAttractive berried clean spritzy vanilla. Blackcurrant-leafs. Eucalyptus. A bit floral. Elegantly composed taste in balance with the nose. Delicate, quite the opposite to in your face this one.
Rich Howarda handful of fresh berries, some warm vanilla and a dry maltiness on the nose. with time, darker, tangier notes of plum and blackcurrant start to drift through, and a big, bourbon-y vanilla. the palate presents with plenty of tart fruit. a drop of water greatly accents the red fruit punch on the nose, which is warm, balanced and very pleasant. the palate is pleasantly sweet now, but with a lovely tart finish. a few more drops of water, and the nose gets a bit powdery again, as does the palate. summary: a lovely blend of sweet and tart fruits. a drop of water is required, but it's easy to go too far. get the balance right, and you will be richly rewarded. [tasted blind for the 2011 Awards]
Keith WoodGlass: Classic Malt - Colour: Solid gold - Nose: Initially fruity woody vanilla and then I'm reminded of a toasted teacake oozing with butter. Then comes even more vanilla accompanied by light butterscotch. This is very aromatic. - Palate: Slightly musty and leafy vanilla & butterscotch, all nicely balanced even if not overly complex. - Finish: Medium to long, very gentle and soothing. - Overall Impression: I like this, very nice indeed with a good but light character. An 'anytime' dram.
