Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonA bit thin, on clean maltiness. Slightly cereal but really quite anonymous. Still fresh.. flawless, in a way, but too low intensity for my tastes. Tastewise bigger. Really fresh, slightly floral, but the berried yet clean vanilla dominates. Dry, pristine. With water it gets more malty, so dont do that.
Rich Howardinitially a bit strong on the nose, but after that clears, there are plenty of apple skins, orange wedges and fresh vanilla custard, a dash of nutmeg, and some fresh leather gloves. the palate is thick, rich, fruity and sweet, heavy on the fresh fruits (apple, orange, plum) infused by vanilla. with water, the fruit is tamed somewhat in favor of sweet malt and warm vanilla, brown sugar, cloves and still some leather. the palate is slightly less sweet now, still strong on orchard fruits, an undercurrent of vanilla, with cedar cigar box and a hint of fresh cigar tobacco. summary: quite nice; a strong entry. [tasted blind for the 2011 Awards]
