Tasting Notes
Craig DanielsNose; Sherry, toffee, raisins, stewed apricots, dried plums, dates, caramel, chocolate, dried apricots, nuts (cashews), oloroso sherry, silky oak, polished floorboards and medium roast coffee, mashed raisins. Palate: honey, fruit (sour cherries), nuts, caramel, toffee, roasted nuts (almonds)and growing dark chocolate. Finish: hint of leather, wood, creamed honey and more chocolate/cocoa, yet a bit thin and wimpy. Much more impressive than the Sherry 12 from 2001. Reminds me most of the earliest Balvenie DW 12s. No sherry monster, but all the more balanced and drinkable for that. I've tasted this one three times and my scores are 88,84,86, so I figure 86 is about right.
