Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonHm, strange. Here I had canned cucumber (vinegar) for quite a while. Then it straightened up and became more classic islay. Pure and pristine, perhaps not the most complex beast out there. Tastewise equally pleasant minus the initial oddities. Gets a lite honeyed too. Tasty.
Rich Howard(this was a fresh crack of a full bottle.) the nose is initially very reserved, with a light layer of peat smoke, subtle notes of lemon creme, marzipan, even marshmallow, hints of brine and seaweed, light phenols, light dish detergent, fisherman's rope and sea water. a few drops of water enhance the rope-y and soap-y notes, lovely wafts of smoke continue to emerge, with tree leaves, sweet vanilla creme and light notes of citrus. the finish is longer with water. (i let the dram sit in the glass for some time with a cover. after that, the nose presented with big vanilla and honey, light phenols and quite some sea air. i felt like i was standing on the pier at Laphroaig...)
