Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonI get a dark style, slightly resinous, whiffs of smoke, dark syrup. Demerara-sugar? Very complex indeed and very attractive. Intense dark style also in the taste. Very spicy, woody. Dry. Cardemom? A bit sourly in the aftertaste but not necessarily of the "wrong" kind. Smoky also.
Rich Howarda very nice nose, with raisins, tobacco, antiseptic, rubber, cotton balls and peat smoke. maybe an undercurrent of buttercream. oops... the palate presents with some nice, sweet smoke and a hint of astringent, but leading up to and through the finish, there's a strong sour, woody note that i can't quite reconcile with... [tasted blind for the 2010 Awards]
Tim PuettNose: Freshly oiled horse saddle and sweet grains. Am I feeding horses? Taste: Mint gum drops and bits of sweet hay, little smoke. Finish: Still sweet and light peat, medium long finish and maybe some honey roasted peanuts. Very enjoyable with a strange horse barn theme.
