Tasting Notes
Robert KarlssonImmense sherry-influence. Loads of huge raisin, figs and dates. Cherries. Leather. Dark chocolate. Tobacco. The full monty. So complex and so big. Superb taste in full balance with the equally marvellous nose. Bitter, dry, old aftertaste. Excellent.
Krishna NukalaCoffee toffee, dark chocolates, with a dash of water there is an explosion of fruits- first to come out is orange marmalade and do I get faint hints of smoke?Old leather,Nutty and lots of dry fruits. More marmalade on palate, full bodied and a symphony of dried fruits, excellent long fruity finsih. (MMA 2011 blind tasting)
Rich Howarddeep fruits, with prunes and raisins, blueberry compote, figs, fig newtons even, dark chocolate-covered cherries, molasses, espresso, deep dark maple syrup, egg nog with nutmeg, mint leaves. the palate is deep and rich, with orange marmalade, fig newtons, nutmeg, molasses, plenty of tobacco and clove cigarettes. a drop of water releases warm brown sugar, much easier on the chocolate but even more tobacco now, still some raisins and fig newtons, with a subtle undercurrent of smoked wood. the palate is very dusky now, with pinot noir, and beautifully sweet with molasses and maple syrup, even some gum balls. summary: fresh fig newtons dipped in egg nog next to unlit clove cigarettes. works quite nicely with and without water. [tasted blind for the 2011 Awards]
