Tasting Notes
Rich Howarda deep, rich and yet reserved nose at first, with tobacco wrapper, multigrain rolls, buckwheat pancakes, apricot brioche, cardamom and the lightest hint of fennel, warm buttered shortcake, antique bureau and a touch of cardboard. (all those notes are very subtle, and well integrated; the dram is not nearly as "bready" as that may sound...) the palate is surprisingly sweet with fruit notes of fresh peach and apricot, plus olive oil, that buttered shortcake again and more glorious unlit cigar tobacco. water releases cold butter (that's a new one...), spice cake and gingerbread, and a light spritz of fresh lemon juice. the palate is still full of olive oil, raw almonds and apricots (dried now). a beautiful and complex dram...
Oliver KlimekColour: Dark gold - Nose: Honey, bees wax, orange zest, hints of nutmeg and a whiff of smoke. Later a certain brininess evolves. - Palate: Gentle peat, apples, orange zest, grapefruit, walnuts, nutmeg, hints of white pepper. - Finish: Very long, fruity, slightly dry and spicy. - Overall: This malt is infinetely complex, the tasting notes just capture the principal flavours, there are many more minor aromas to discover. The wood remains gentle and adds even more depth.
